To ensure lawful purchase, acquisition and possession of explosives in Botswana.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and Non-Citizens..

How do I get this service?
  • Submit copies of company certificate of incorporation and trading licences including director's declaration forms.
  • A letter of appointment is required for the responsible person who should be a blasting license holder.
  • Arrange storage facility in accordance with the requirement of Explosives Act Cap 24:02.
  • Arrange transportation of explosives according to  Explosives Act Cap 24:02.
  • Submit a letter of engagement from the client where the explosives will be used.

  • Company certificate of incorporation
  • Trading licence
  •  Company share certificate

Application for Authorisation for Box Storage

Overview

To ensure lawful, safe and secure storage of explosives in Botswana.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and Non-Citizens.

How do I get this service?

In order to access this service, applicants must follow the following steps:

  • Construct the box as required in the Explosives Act Cap 24:02.
  • Submit completed application for inspection of the box : Authorisation for Box Storage.
What supporting documents are required?
  • Application letter.
  • Approved specifications as required in the First schedule (Form F) of the Explosives Act Cap 24:02.
How long will this service take?

5 working days from the date of inspection.

Application for Explosives Magazine License

Overview

To ensure lawful, safe and secure storage of explosives in Botswana.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and Non-Citizens.

How do I get this service?

The applicant must submit the following documents:

  • Approved plans
  • Application letter
What supporting documents are required?

Drawing of plans, layout and specifications of magazine approved by the Chief Inspector of Explosives as per the following requirements;

  • Conditions regarding lightning conductor
  • Requirements for magazine plans
  • Magazine fence specification
  • Application letter
How long will this service take?

5 working days from the date of inspection.

Permit to Carry Explosives in Bulk

Overview

To ensure lawful, safe and secure conveyance of explosives in Botswana.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and Non-Citizens.

How do I get this service?
  • Modify the vehicle as per the Explosives Act Cap 24:02 and provided checklist for Permit to carry explosives in bulk.
  • Submit vehicle registration book.
  • Submit completed application letter for inspection of the vehicle.
What supporting documents are required?
  • Application letter.
  • Vehicle registration book.
How long will this service take?

5 working days from the date of inspection.

Overview

To ensure lawful manufacturing of explosives in Botswana.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and Non-Citizens.

How do I get this service?

Submits plans and sections and proposed safety standards for approval by the Chief Inspector of Explosives.

  • Approved plans.
  • Approved safety standards.
  • Application letter.
How long will this service take?

Five (5) working days from the date of submission.

To ensure lawful importation of explosives and their possession in Botswana.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and Non-citizens.

How do I get this service?

In order to access this service, applicants must follow the following steps.

  • An applicant is required to submit copies of company certificate of incorporation and trading licences  including directors declaration forms.
  • Fill and submit Application for Permit to Import Explosives, Form A.
What supporting documents are required?
  • Completed Application for Permit to Import Explosives, Form A
    Company certificate of incorporation
  • Trading licence
  •  Company Share Certificate

5 days.
