Botswana is positioning itself to export diamond sorting and valuation expertise, leveraging more than 50 years in the industry and the capabilities of Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB).
DTCB, which opened in 2008, is billed as the world’s largest and most sophisticated rough diamond sorting and valuation operation, reinforcing Botswana’s reputation in the diamond sector.
Lesotho's Prime Minister, Right Honourable Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane toured the DTCB facility during his official visit, hosted by the Minister of Minerals and Energy Bogolo Kenewendo.
Minister Kenewendo stated that one objective of the visit was to explore a partnership for Botswana to export skills and expertise to Lesotho.
“The partnership will ensure resilience for the mining industry and develop industrial partnerships,” Kenewendo said.
Prime Minister Matekane welcomed the tour and called for clear strategies to enable Botswana and Lesotho to collaborate and win together.
Botswana has been active in the diamond industry for over five decades.
