President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, delivered opening remarks as Co Chair, at the Botswana - Zimbabwe Bi- National  Commission (BNC) expressing appreciation for Zimbabwe’s hospitality and reaffirming the strong historical, legal, and economic ties between the two nations rooted in a shared bilateral relations and long standing cooperation.

He emphasised that the Bi-National Commission is a key platform for advancing practical collaboration, reviewing progress, and identifying new areas of mutual benefit. 

The President also called for greater economic complementarity between Botswana and Zimbabwe to promote shared growth rather than competition, highlighting priority sectors such as health, agriculture, trade and investment, infrastructure, energy, tourism, defence, and regional security. 

He also raised concern over the growing threat of synthetic drugs, urging stronger cross border cooperation, policy harmonisation, and coordinated security responses.

President Boko further underscored Africa’s strategic strength, noting its vast natural resources and youthful population, and called for greater unity and confidence in shaping global outcomes. 

He concluded by stressing the importance of turning dialogue into tangible results that improve livelihoods, reaffirming that Botswana and Zimbabwe are rising together toward shared prosperity and sustainable development.

The two countries signed 10 memorandums of understanding which are:

(1) Agreement on Defence Cooperation and Training Exchange Programmes

(2) Police Cooperation in Combating Livestock Theft and other Cross Border Crimes.

(3) MoU on Immigration Cooperation

(4) Cooperation in Field of Prison and  Correctional Services.

(5) Transfer of Sentenced Persons.

(6) Coordination of Aeronautical Search and Rescue Services.

(7) Cooperation and Assistance in the field of Civil Aircraft Accidents and Serious Incidents Investigations.

(8) Cooperation in the Promotion of Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

(9) Economic Trade  and Investment Promotions.

(10) Collaboration in the Museum of African Liberation.
