Overview

This service allows citizens and businesses to apply for the licensing of poultry premises in line with the Livestock and Meat Industries Act 2007 and Regulations for Red and Poultry Meat. The meat premises licenses are valid for 12 calendar months.

Who is eligible?
  • Citizens of Botswana.
  • Companies (Local and Foreign).
How do I get this service?
  • Fill and submit the Application for Licence of a Poultry Abattoir Form or Related Premises Form and relevant supporting documents.
  • ​​​​​Once a decision is made by the Director, the applicant will be updated in writing.
What supporting documents are required?
  • A certified copy of valid National Identity Card (Omang) for citizens.
  • A certified copy of valid company's registration certificate.
  • Proof of ownership of site and land use.
  • Site/location plan.
  • Meat premises plan.
How long will this service take?

Sixty (60) working days.
