Overview

Any naturalised or registered citizen may register their child (under 18 years) as a minor child of a citizen of Botswana.

Who is eligible?

The applicant must be a Motswana and must have a minor child under 18 years old
The unbridged Birth Certificate must clearly indicate the name of the naturalised or registered parent (The names must match those in the Identity document)
The Minor child must be registered before the age of eighteen (18) years old.

How do I get this service?

In order to access this service, applicants must complete the following steps.

Completed Form E
After processing the applicant will be notified of the outcome of the application
The applicant will be issued with a certificate

Two passport sized photographs.
Certified copy of adoption certificate/ court order for endorsement after the age of 18 years
Proof of parents' citizenship status e.g. ( certified copy of National Identity card (Omang), Citizenship Certificate or Passport)
Certified copy of child's unbridged Birth Certificate
Police report forms for children over sixteen(16) years old.
Certified copy of parents' Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
Certified copy of a valid Residence Permit.
Certified copy of a minor child passport

Overview

The application seeks to verify the "claimed" family relationship to a Botswana citizen because there is a doubt due to missing or insufficient documentation.

Note: The law allows the office to require a medical test (typically a DNA test)

Who is eligible?

Where the applicant alleges to be child of a citizen of Botswana or related to a citizen of Botswana, but has no legal identity documents to collaborate this assertion and a doubt therefore exist.

How do I get this service?

Completed Form 4
Upon submission, the applicant with an acknowledgement letter
After processing, the applicant will be notified of the outcome
If successful, the applicant will be issued with Certificate of Incase of Doubt

Two passport size coloured photos.
Certified copy of unbridged birth certificate
Proof of parents’ citizenship status (certified copies of Passport, Omang and Citizenship Certificate (if applicable)
Certified copy of previous Botswana Passport or Omang (for country of origin and Botswana)
Affidavits and certified of copies of Omang of minimum three witnesses (kgosi, parent, relative/guardian and the applicant
Application letter
Certified Copies of all school leaving examination certificate

A. Any person as a token of honour, who in the opinion of the President has done signal honour or rendered distinguished service to Botswana; or

A person not otherwise entitled to or eligible for citizenship of Botswana, to whom special circumstances exist which in the opinion of the President warrant such registration.

How do I get this service?

In order to access this service, applicants must complete the following steps.

Complete and submit Form H along with required documents and fees listed below.
Check the status of your application at any Immigration and Citizenship Office
If your application is successful you will be notified and requested to renounce your foreign citizenship
You will be issued with a Registration Certificate after you have renounced your foreign citizenship
If your application is rejected, a rejection letter will be issued
You can re-apply if you wish. (there is no time restriction for re-submission).

Certified copy of valid Residence Permit/Exemption Certificate/Permanent Residence
Letter addressed to The President
Set of Police Report Forms
Certified copy of Birth Certificate

•    valid trade license
•    Current Audited Financial statements
•    Current Tax Returns
