Botswana has reaffirmed its strong commitment to democratic governance and global cooperation during the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Annual Regional Planning Conference dinner held in Gaborone yesterday.

Delivering the keynote address, Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe noted that Botswana remains dedicated to strengthening democracy, constitutionalism and peaceful transitions of power. He highlighted that democracy must deliver tangible results for citizens through accountable leadership, strategic planning and transparent governance.

The Vice President further emphasised the importance of partnerships with organisations such as FES in promoting inclusive dialogue, evidence-based policy making and strong democratic institutions across the continent.

He called for strengthened multilateral cooperation to address global challenges affecting Africa, including conflict, climate shocks and economic instability.

The conference brought together policy experts, civil society leaders and democracy advocates to reflect on the future of social democracy and collaborative development for Africa.
