Request for Interns by Organisations

Overview

Organisations are able to request for Interns from the Government data base for mentorship and skills transfer.

 

 

Who is eligible?

Government Departments, State Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), CBOs and Private Sector  (Training Levy Payers) including international placement.  

How do I get this service?
  • Complete and submit the Intern Request Form
  • Receive acknowledgement letter with a reference number 
  • For Private sector a short-list of graduates will be submitted to the Company for interviews and selection 
  • The Intern will report on the first week of the month upon availability of the requested discipline 
  • The host organisation and the Intern will complete and submit Return Slip Form and Performance Contract Form
  • The Host Organisation must coordinate submission of the monthly Confirmation Form for payment of allowance
  • Upon completion of internship both, Host and the Intern must complete Exit Form 
How long will this service take?

The Intern will ill receive a telephone call once placement is secured by the Department of Employment Services

Job seekers Data base

Overview

The unemployed data base previously administered by DPSM now integrated with Labour Market Observatory (LMO). The Job seekers data base provides a platform for job seekers to meet with potential employees online.

The Unemployed Graduate Database

Overview

The Unemployed Graduate Database (UGD) administered by the Directorate of Public Service Management provides a platform for unemployed graduates without work experience to secure pensionable employment in the economy. Potential employers absorb graduates from the UGD for their existing vacancies.

Who is eligible?

Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree holders. Citizens only.

How do I get this service?

Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree holders can register online through the Directorate of Public Service Management website 

  1. Visit www.dpsm.gov.bw
  2. Click graduate registration, then new profile
  3. Click enter your personal information and fill in the personal details
  4. Click enter your educational information and fill in the educational details
  5. Enter security code and click submit
  6. You will receive an acknowledgement email that your registration is complete.
What supporting documents are required?

None.

How long will this service take?

Registration is completed immediately. Placement is determined by the availability of matching vacancies.

Recruitment - Recruit Private

Overview
  • The Recruit Privates Basic Military Training cycle is six (6) months
  • Recruitment is done annually
Who is eligible?
  • Botswana citizens
  • Aged between 18 and 24 years. On exceptional cases, age may be waived to recruit someone who is already holding a profession e.g. Medical Doctor

Qualifications

  • Potential Candidates should possess BGCSE or Equivalent with a minimum of 24 Points. Any other qualification to a maximum of Diploma or its Equivalent is an added advantage

Requirements

  • Candidate should possess a valid National Identity Card (Omang) or show valid proof of registration
  • Candidates should be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the BDF Recruitment Medical Standards
  • Minimum height of 165 cm for Males and 160 cm for Females
  • Minimum body weight of 55 Kg for Males and 45 Kg for Females
  • All candidates undergo the selection process, which include both physical fitness assessment and comprehensive medical examination
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant

Botswana National Service Programme (Tirelo Sechaba)

Overview

The National Service Programme (Tirelo Sechaba) is responsible for creation of opportunities for unemployed young people to be able to gain skills and experience across various industries and business sectors. These opportunities not only benefit the youth but also contribute to the economic development of their communities. Selected applicants will be placed as volunteers in different Government Departments, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), public and parastatal sector institutions for a maximum period of ten (10) years.

Process:

  • Graduates express intention to enrol through an Application Form 
  • Government departments, Parastatals, NGOs and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) express intention to enrol graduates through a Request Form
  • Graduate participants can transfer once after three (3) months by filling a Transfer Form
  • Graduate participants are eligible for monthly allowance by submitting a Confirmation Form
  • Graduate participants can choose to exit the programme before end of two years for various reasons by filling an Exit Form
  • Graduate participants can opt for reinstatement by filling a Reinstatement Form
  • Graduate participants' performance is monitored through a Workplan Form

  • Unemployed and out of school citizens 
  • Age ranging between 20-30 years without tertiary education qualifications
