Service Description

The service covers the advice given to a potential school owner, the proper filling in of the application form, inspection of the buildings, assessment of the other requirements and the recommendation for registration.

How do I obtain Service?

The applicant must obtain and complete Application by a Person Other than a Local Education Authority for Registration of a School (Regulation 3 (3) (Registration of Schools) Regulations 1967 Form 2.

If it is a new School, the applicant should be able to provide proof of  the need for such school in the area, minimum fixed capital of P200 000 for new infrastructure or P60 000 for basic materials if there are existing infrastructure, land certificate or title deeds, source of recruitment of trained teacher.

The form must be accompanied by the sketch map of the proposed school, a plan of buildings, last 6 months’ bank statements and project memorandum. In case of existing infrastructure, inspection shall be carried out by Council Buildings’ Inspector and Health Inspector.

Basic infrastructure required include; classrooms of not less than 9m x 7m, four toilets (separate for boys/men and girls/women), sufficient water supply, electricity connection, qualified teachers and head teacher, expatriate teachers with permission to teach obtained from Ministry of Education and both resident and work permits, sufficient complement of school supplies and an Administration Block (Library, Bursar’s Office, Headmaster’s office, Deputy Head’s office, Staff room and Laboratory).

Form 2 is attached and can be obtained from Education Department Offices in Rural Administration Offices in Ghanzi and Charleshill
