The Department of National Internship Programme (DNIP) was established to help unemployed Batswana gain necessary skills, thus become employable. Consequently, DNIP wants to facilitate skills development and transfer to young Batswana graduates and thereby providing a seamless integration of graduates into the economy.

Placement is done on a continuous basis. That is, when the department receives an application, it is immediately acted upon.
Guidelines
They are meant to set the parameters of operation for the interns. That is, they are meant to provide guidance to proper behavior, expected standards, pertaining policies, and thus govern day to day operations of interns.
Appraisal Forms
They are assessment tools meant to help interns gain necessary work based skills. The forms are supposed to be completed and submitted to The Department of National Internship Programme on monthly basis. It is through evaluation of the forms that weaknesses and strengths of respective interns could be identified and worked on.Exit Report
The report is meant to give an independent view of the programme. This is because it is partly completed by an intern at the end of the programme, thus would be able to give an honest assessment of the programme.
Application Form
The forms are supposed to be completed by prospective interns. In addition, they should be accompanied by Resume/CV, certified certificates and certified copy of a national identity card. Completed forms should be submitted to the Department of National Internship Programme offices, situated at the Gaborone main mall, opposite the National Post Office. Alternatively, forms should be submitted to the nearest Department of Civil and National Registration offices throughout the country.
Facts about admission into the programme
· All registration forms submitted should be accompanied by a certified copy of Omang, certified copies of certificates, transcripts and a CV/Resume.
· Graduates willing to participate in the scheme shall enter into a written agreement with the Government of Botswana for a period of twelve months, with an option of a shorter period in the event that the intern receives an offer of permanent employment before expiry of the 12 months period.
· Graduates shall be eligible to draw an allowance of P2000.00 on monthly basis as follows; P1800.00 payable monthly to intern and P200.00 retained and payable at the end of the internship.
· Government would not provide accommodation, meals and transport for Interns.
