Ministry of Communications, Science & Technology
The Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology was established in 2002 to fast trek the development of information and communications technologies in Botswana. The Ministry would achieve this goal by formulating relevant ICT and Science and Research policies as well as coordinate their implementation through national, regional and global collaborative efforts that harness local resources, talent and innovation.
The Ministry is made up of the following departments:
· Broadcasting Services
· Government Printing and Publishing Services
· Information Services
· Information Technology
· Ministry Management
· Research Science and Technology
· Telecommunications and Postal Services
· Radiation Protectorate Unit.
About the Minister
Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi is a Botswanan journalist and politician representing the ruling Botswana Democratic Party. She was appointed to the National Assembly of Botswana in 1999 as one of the four specially selected members and was re-elected in 2004 general elections. Venson-Moitoi was the Minister of Works, Transport and Communications 2001–2002 and Minister of Trade, Industry, Wildlife and Tourism 2002–2004. She was appointed as the Minister of Communications, Science, and Technology to the current cabinet in 2004
