 In attempt to curb poverty and encourage local manufacturers and businesses to increase their production for local supply, Government will through the Cabinet Committee of Economic Empowerment produce a memorandum directing all government departments to purchase locally produced goods. According to Mr. Mokgweetsi Masisi the Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, the memorandum will be availed in June.

Commemorating the World Consumer Rights Day on 15th March, Ms. Dorcas Makgatho-Malesu, Minister of Trade and Industry, said that consumer education is essential for maximising resources and making informed decisions. She urged the business community, especially the financial services industry, to take responsibility for the products they offer and come up with a code of conduct to govern their business practices.
