Types of Sponsorship/ Scholarships Available
The Ministry of Education, through the Department of Student Placement and Welfare, offers two types of sponsorships, namely:

Direct Sponsorship

Direct Scholarships are wholly funded by the Botswana Government. They are specifically for Botswana citizens. The main target group is Form Five school (O'level) leavers who are admissible into appropriate courses in approved institutions. These scholarships also selectively cater for serving officers from government, parastatals and the private sectors.

Donor Agency Scholarships
Funding of these scholarships may be partly provided by an agency/organisation or wholly by the organisation or country e.g. the Commonwealth Scholarships, Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Chinese scholarships. These usually cover a wide range of courses across different levels, focusing on courses of critical shortage or courses that will normally not be offered by local institutions if the award is external.

Students Selected for external placement for the year 2008
