We will lead in providing an efficient and effective health service which compares well with the global  practices, inspires confidence in consumers, gives satisfaction to health care providers and plays an advocacy role in all matters that impact on the health of the nation.

We exist to provide health services that will improve the physical, mental and psychosocial well being of individuals, families and communities.

 

THE GLOBAL FUND BOARD APPROVES USŁ846 MILLION IN NEW GRANTS

At the fourteenth Board Meeting of the Global Fund held in Guatemala from 31 October – 3 November 2006, funding for all submitted new proposals, amounting to USŁ846 million were approved to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. 

Nearly half of the financing through these grants is earmarked for Sub-Saharan Africa; half of the grants will go to fighting AIDS, while the other half will be evenly divided between malaria and TB, over 60% of the grants will go to low income
countries. 

Many establishments in Botswana such as NGO’s, government, hospices, counseling centers, day care centers and orphan centers have used  the Global Fund since 2004 to finance their projects which benefited multitudes of needy people.  In the latest development, the Global Fund approved a proposal to finance a TB project in Botswana, and the contract has just been signed.
 

Honourable Minister of Health, Professor Sheila Tlou, who is a Board Member of The Global Fund, has also been  selected to be in the Nomination Committee for the recruitment of a new Executive Director to replace the current Executive Director  whose term ends in March 2007.
