The Commissioner of Police Mr Thebeyame Tsimako has donated sport outfits and entertainment equipment worth over P13000.00 to Semboyo Primary School and the out of school youth.

The donated items include a plasma screen, a DVD player, soccer kit, soccer nets, volleyball net, soccer balls and volley balls.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony at Semboyo village in Ngamiland District today (30.04.2012), Mr Tsimako said the donation will make a difference in the lives of the recipients since they will have the opportunity to watch educational programmes and promote social interaction through active participation in sporting activities. He added that the initiatives will also make a positive impact on youth development and thereby save them from criminal temptation.

The Commissioner also said the Botswana Police Service will continue to commit available resources in the fight against crime. He urged the Semboyo community to listen to police Crime File programme aired on Radio Botswana and Itshireletse television programme saying the programmes are meant to sensitise and educate the communities against all forms of crime.

Mr Tsimako further commended the Semboyo community for close collaboration and partnership that prevail between them and the police. He said the close partnership has been witnessed at the recently held Botswana Police Cluster awards where Semboyo policing cluster won two prizes for good performance in fighting crime. The Commissioner therefore applauded Semboyo community on the marvellous achievement and urged them to maintain the good work and aim for higher awards during the subsequent ceremonies. He thanked them for their commitment and the invaluable contribution they have made in crime prevention and promotion of social unity.
