The Commissioner of Police Mr Thebeyame Tsimako has instituted a team to investigate circumstances that led to the altercation between the police and members of the public in Maun on November 15, 2011.

This follows clips shown on Botswana Television, depicting some disturbing incidents following a report of an unlawful assembly in that village. The investigating team is expected to give a full report to the Commissioner within a week.

The Botswana Police Service would like to assure members of the public that it remains committed to providing a policing service characterized by high levels of public consent and shall do everything possible to guard against any act likely to tarnish the image of the organization.
