Police advise the public to be aware of criminals

The Botswana Police would like to warn the general public that we have reached the time of the season of the year which is characterized by various crimes especially those that involve theft of large amounts of money and valuable property.

During the week under review, there was a noticeable increase in the number of incidents of armed robbery that involved large sums of money and loss of lives.

At least 43 incidents of armed robbery were reported in which cash

amounting to over P350 000.00 and property valued at over P270 000.00 were stolen. In one such incident that occurred in Francistown on Saturday, cash amounting to over P180 000.00 was stolen after three men robbed and murdered the manager of Western Union. Another incident occurred in Gaborone when unknown people attacked a certain filling station and went away with the amount of P50 000.00 cash.

There was also a noticeable increase in the number of break ins and the public is advised to exercise care by securing their businesses and valuables
