After the recent cabinet re-shuffle, The Peoples Ministry is proud to welcome its new Minister in Mr. Peter. L. Siele, who was previously the Hon. Minister at the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs (MLHA) his tenure, was from 2008-2011.
In what can be viewed as an advantage to The People’s Ministry, Mr. Siele brings a wealth of knowledge pertaining to Local Governance and its various structures.
This is said with reference to his 1987-1992 appointment as Establishment Secretary responsible for: The administration of the Department of Unified Local Government Service. His duties in this position included among other things:
- Manpower planning and recruitment
- Manpower Training & Development and Personnel Administration (Human Resource Development.
- Assisted in the Development and production of a personnel handbook for Botswana Local Authorities
- Develop and produce open performance appraisal system for Botswana Local Authorities i.e. District, Town Councils and Land Boards.
- Design and implement a four module training programme for town Clerks designate of the Republic of Namibia.
Furthermore, Mr. Siele was also nominated by the Minister of Local Government in 1999 – 2004 to serve in the Southern District Council as a Hon. Councillor. During his tenure as Councilor Mr. Siele was elected Chairman of Tender Board and Vice Chairman of Finance Committee.
From the above noted it is clear to see that Mr. Siele, possess the experience needed to assist The People’s Ministry, in achieving its mandate of “delivering effective local governance, social services, social protection and basic infrastructure by creating an enabling environment for improvement of the quality of lives of Batswana.”
