Conmen target the new Rail Mall Park

The Botswana Police would like to warn the general public visiting the newly opened Rail Mall Park in Gaborone near the Rail Way Station to be on the lookout for conmen masquerading as managers offering employment.

The warning follows series of incidents of cheating by tricksters operating at the mall who fake job interviews with unsuspecting job seekers only to flee with their possessions in the process of the so called interviews.

The police have recorded about eight cases of Obtaining by False Pretences since the mall was opened, in which people lost laptops, expensive cell phones and cash to the conmen after declarations and ultimate surrendering of items as a requirements for the interviews.

The police would like to warn against street job interviews which they say are a recipe for cheating. They advise people looking for jobs at the Rail Park Mall to consult before committing their time and possessions to potential employers.
