The Department of Social Services under the Ministry of Local Government will be celebrating and commemorating the Day of the Elderly which its theme is ‘’Launch of Madrid +10: The growing opportunities and challenges of global ageing’’.
In Setswana is ‘’Tshimologo ya Madrid +10: Go gola ga ditshono le dikgwetlo tsa bagodi lefatshe ka bophara’’.
The commemoration will be held at Serowe village on Saturday, the 5th of November 2011.
The objectives of Day are:
- To raise awareness on the existence of the elderly people and their rights.
- To receive feedback from the elderly on challenges posed by the phenomenon of aging, their experiences and how they can be addressed.
- To create a sense of compassion and inclusiveness for the elderly in our society.
