Address Customers’ Concerns – Tsimako

The Commissioner of Police Mr Thebeyame Tsimako has called on members of the Botswana Police to address the concerns of their customers.

Addressing senior officers at a performance review meeting in Gaborone this week, Mr Tsimako said that the public is concerned about increased criminal activity in their communities and the deterioration of road traffic safety. He also said the public is complaining about the police’s slow response to reports, discourtesy and involvement in corrupt practices.

He implored senior officers to ensure that these concerns are attended to urgently and reminded them that their success will only be measured by the degree to which they deliver on their mandate.

He said that he is aware that police are challenged by shortage of resources and manpower. He however said that it might take a while for them to get some of these resources as the economy is still recovering from the recession and there is a looming threat of another one. He encouraged them to make use of the little that they have to protect the lives of Batswana from crime.

The Commissioner of Police further urged them to make effective use of the meeting, as it is one way of refining their crime intervention strategies.

The purpose of the meeting is to review the police’s performance in the last three quarters of this year.
