Stanbic Bank Donates P20 000 to Ministry of Local Government
P20, 000 Boost for Dikganarita

According to World business Council for sustainable Development, Corporate Social responsibility is the continuing commitment by business giving back to the community. On Wednesday 17 August 2011, Ministry of Local Government, courtesy of Dikganarita received a donation of P20, 000.00 from Stanbic Bank Botswana as part of their social responsibility role in as far as corporate social responsibility is concerned.

“My team and I are proud to help however we can in contributing to the development and well being of this community. We sincerely hope this donation will go a long way in helping you realize your pursuits of uplifting the disadvantaged communities”, said Stanbic Bank Botswana-Fairgrounds Branch Public Relations Manager, Ruth Modisane.

Bontleng Home Based Care is a centre which takes care of people with chronic and terminal illnesses including HIV/AIDS and is sorely dependent on donations.

She said they realized that they shared the same mandate in their social programs initiatives, hence the donation. She reminded those in attendance that their relationship with MLG is not new, as last year they made a donation of 10 computers which were distributed to primary schools for learning purposes.

The funds will be used towards the purchase of building material for the construction of a shelter at the Bontleng White City Home Based Care Centre, where the Ministry has already identified the centre as its maiden project for the National Community service initiative.

When receiving the cheque, Assistant Minister Honorable Motowane applauded the bank for their continued role they play in community development initiatives, saying it is in line with the National Vision goals and aspirations.

“This donation came at the right time as the money will go towards the improvement and sustainability of the much needed services of the Centre. We are very grateful and look forward to working with Stanbic Bank staff in order to complete this project and even beyond,” said Hon. Motowane.

The bank’s kind gesture is a poignant expression of its passion to make a difference in people’s lives and the Ministry expresses its heartfelt appreciation for the cash donation and labour.

On a parting shot the Minister appreciated the work done and further implored Dikganarita team to continue their hard and voluntary work they have been doing thus far.
