Machaneng Police build a house for a needy

Machaneng Police Women Network has build a two roomed house valued over P15 000 for a needy person in Machaneng. The house which included a renovated pit latrine, grocery, a bed and blankets was handed over to Omphisitse Wetshootsile on Friday (23/09/11) by the Commissioner of Police Mr Thebeyame Tsimako.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony MrTsimako said living under unfavorable conditions exposes one to all sorts of dangers as one become vulnerable to attacks by criminals, property is never safe, and there is greater demand for protection from government.

He said the construction of the house meant that Machaneng Police have taken care of Wetshootsile security needs. He further said the police officers in Machaneng have also enhanced their worth in the eyes of the Machaneg community, saying their actions have convinced the community to also reciprocate the gesture by cooperating more with the Police in the fight against crime.

Mr Tsimako said the Police’s contribution was in keeping with the ideals of one of the pillars of the National Vision of being a compassionate, just and caring nation. He however, thanked everybody who contributed to ensure that Mr Wetshootsile becomes a proud member of the community.

The Commissioner said Wetshootsile’s house was one of the many projects that members of the Botswana Police have undertaken in Gaborone, Kanye, Letlhakane, Lobatse, Tlokweng, Francistown, Semboyo and Mmadinare.  

In his vote of thanks, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Foreman Baganetswe who is also the Divisional Commander for South Central Division commended Machaneng Police officers for their commitment in building a good working relationship with members of the community in their area. He thanked Machaneng Police officers for employing all possible means to be able to help the needy even during economic crisis.
