Police cautions motorists against attacks at road junctions

Botswana Police would like to caution the general public about increasing incidents where criminals attack victims’ vehicles and pounce on drivers as they stopped to ascertain what had happened. At least eight people were robbed of their vehicles in and around Gaborone.

Of the eight incidents, six occurred in the same pattern. Four of the eight motor vehicles have been recovered abandoned at various places in Gaborone. Most incidents occur at junctions between the hours of 2000 hours and 0500 hours

The police have observed that the criminals would follow unsuspecting motorists and attack them at isolated intersections and they therefore urge the public to be vigilant especially at intersections and to report to the nearest police station. The public is further warned that in almost all the incidents the robbers were armed and therefore need to exercise extra caution.
