Revised Protocol on Import products from the  Republic of South Africa
Import Restrictions lifted

Farmers, traders and the General Public are informed that due to an improved situation of FMD in the Republic of South Africa, lifting of some import restrictions for products from RSA has been extended to all provinces except Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng.

Importation of grasses and straws for use as livestock feeds, any other livestock feeds, cloven hoofed animal products e.g. Pasteurised milk, matured red meat from Abattoirs approved by RSA, hides, skins and trophies soaked in 4% soda for 30days in a quarantine, transit pork, hog casings packed in RSA and other cloven hoofed meat products are permitted.  However, raw milk and live cloven hoofed animals are still not permitted entry into Botswana.

The transit meat products to Botswana should enter RSA through all Provinces except Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal. These products will require an import permit from Botswana and transit permit from RSA.
