Police Report on Christmas and Boxing Days
Police have registered five separate fatal road traffic accidents in which five people died on Christmas and Boxing Day.
In four of these accidents, four passengers died as the vehicles they were passengers in overturned. Police investigations are continuing to establish the causes of the accidents.
In yet another accident along Mahalapye/ Kalamare road a driver died on Christmas Day after the vehicle he was travelling in hit a culvert and overturned.
Meanwhile, three people were murdered in three separate incidents reported at Maun, Palapye and Tlokweng.
In one of these cases an unknown man suspected to be a foreigner was certified dead upon arrival at Maun Hospital after he was assaulted by a mob. The reasons for the assault are not yet known and police investigations are still underway.
Meanwhile two men both aged 29 years were reported dead in separate incidents in Martinsdrift and Metsimotlhabe. Both were found dead in the morning of Boxing Day.
