The Employment Services Unit offers employment exchange services.  For this reason this division is represented in every district where there is a labour office.  The importance of registering with the employment services is obvious.   Employers are expected to seek the assistance of the Department whenever they are looking  for workers in various technical and professional skills as well as common labourers.

The 10 Steps to Getting a Job

  1. Take your Omang and visit any District Labour Office.
  2. At the Reception, ask for the Employment Services Officer.
  3. You will be given a card to complete, where necessary with the assistance of the Employment Services Officer.
  4. After completing the Form, hand it to the Officer.
  5. The Officer will first check in her records for a possible job vacancy.
  6. If a job vacancy is available, the officer will interview you according to the job qualifications. 
  7. If there is none, the Officer will inform you and ensure that you leave your contact details.
  8. If you qualify, the officer will contact the prospective employer and inform them that you are being sent for the vacancy.
  9. The Officer will inform you about the labour laws and give you an employment confirmation card to hand to your prospective employer..
  10. You will then make your way to your new job.
  11. The Officer will first check in her records for a possible job vacancy.

The 5 Steps to Getting a Qualified Employee
  1. Send your job vacancy to the Employment Services Unit.
  2. You can use a post office box/ fax or hand delivery.
  3. The Employment Services Officer will contact you if there is a registered job seeker with the matching qualifications.
  4. When a job seekers from the ESU knocks on your door, s/he will produce an Employment Confirmation Form which you must complete and send to the ESU.
  5. You have now employed a qualified, labour law inducted employee.
