The DFRR issues permits and licenses to individuals and groups who are interested in harvesting or dealing in veldt products and their derivatives as a regulatory measure. The DFRR also gives permits for fire. Fire permits are granted for those who want to set a certain piece of land on fire, especially for management purposes. Fire permits are granted under strict conditions and the operation could be carried under the guidance of monitoring (strict supervision) by Departmental personnel. Permits and/or licenses may be revoked or suspended by the Department if any party is found to be in violation of the permit requirements or associated activities are found to have an unsustainable impact upon natural resources.
