The corruption Prevention Group has a statutory responsibility to examine the practice and procedures of Government departments , parastatals , and public bodies to identify any opportunities conducive to corruption .

Any new system recommended will almost certainly more cost effective , efficient and understandable than the one it is replacing. Inefficiency breeds corruption

The group also gives advice to the private sector when requested to do so. In fulfilling the responsibility it gives priority to organizations which are most vulnerable to corruption or which are party to large government contracts.

The prevention group provides management orientated talks for staff of various levels in corruption prevention techniques. These techniques rely on improving the quality of management, introduction of accountability, delegation, codes of conducts and codes of ethics.

Ethics is the study and understanding of morality. It entails the development of reasonable standards and procedures for deciding what is morally wrong and right .To better understand the work environment it is essential that officers are familiar with legislation that affects public servants, public service act, township act and corruption and Economic Crime act. All employees should find out if there are any rules or procedures to be followed if someone offers them a gift. They should also find out about issues such as conflict of interest as this will help them to develop sound work ethics and can be adopted. Those caught in the web of corruption will soon realize that paying a bribe is not a solitary act. Corruption erodes the morality, ethics and ultimately the ability and performance of those who do not do the corrupting.

In order to practice sound work ethics, it is necessary to adopt a code of conduct which should be properly enforced.

Supervisory accountability is an additional concept to the codes of conduct and ethics in the fight against corruption and economic crime its principle is aimed at placing firmly on the shoulders of senior staff the anus of knowing what their subordinates are doing.

Delegation is complimentary to accountability. It is the work a manager does in entrusting responsibility and authority to others and creating accountability for the result. Delegation involves taking risks since the manager is accountable for the failures of his subordinates .Delegation frees the manager as he is able to do more urgent matters
