BOTSWANA ADOPTS A FIRST OF ITS KIND IN AFRICA – THE INTELLIGENT DRIVER TESTING SYSTEM.
BOTSWANA ADOPTS A FIRST OF ITS KIND IN AFRICA – THE INTELLIGENT DRIVER TESTING SYSTEM.

The Intelligent Driver Testing System (IDTS) was officially started off  at Maruapula testing ground in Gaborone on the 23rd January 2015 by the Honourable Minister Tshenolo Mabeo. It is a first of its kind in Africa. Currently the driver testing at Maruapula and elsewhere in the country is done manually. This has more often resulted in serious backlog, corruption and customer complaints. The computerization of testing grounds will reduce this problem by producing competent drivers who contribute to a reduction in road traffic accidents and it will improve road safety management. Maximum use of this facility will also reduce the waiting period and backlog which the Department of Road Transport and Safety is  currently facing. Amongst other attendees were Member of Parliament, Gaborone Central, Honourable Mr. P.Butale, Commissioner of Police, Commander of BDF, His Worship Mayor of Gaborone, Chief Executive Officers and Directors of MT&C Departments and Parastatal and the Public.
