The Ministry of Transport and Communications wishes to inform the public that two private light aircrafts were involved in separate accidents at Maun International Airport on the 7th September, 2014; one at approximately 1400 hours followed by another an hour later.

The first flight, a South African armature built aircraft, damaged its rotor and propeller when its owner and pilot was taxing off to vacate the runway.

The second flight, a Wilderness Air operated aircraft was conducting a routine training exercise when the pilots were unable to control the descent. The aircraft made a severe hard landing resulting in severe damages to the engine, propeller, nose gear, main gear and the cargo pod.

The Ministry is happy to report that there were no casualties resulting from these accidents.
