PRESIDENT’S DAY ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2013
PRESIDENT’S DAY ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2013
The Department of Road Transport and Safety in partnership with Motor Vehicle Accident Fund and Police will be mounting roadside educational campaigns from the 10th to 12th July 2013 and the enforcement will commence from 13th till 16th July 2013. This year’s campaign goes under theme “Road Safety My Responsibility” and road blocks will be mounted on all major roads across the country with more emphasis along A1 as it is more prone to road accidents. The campaign will provide an opportunity for all road users to be given life-saving information relating to road safety as impressed upon by the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. It is through such campaign initiatives that we in Botswana will attempt to increase awareness of the risk factors as an attempt to accomplish the decade goal of halving road causalities by 2020. The travelling publics are urged to exercise caution when using our roads this long weekend, by avoiding excessive speeds, drink driving, driving when fatigued and non-wearing of seat belts. Lastly the Director of the Department of Road Transport and Safety would like to further take this opportunity to wish all DRTS customers a happy and safe President’s holidays. Let us all commit to the Decade of Action 2011 – 2020.
