The President of the Federal Republic of Germany His Excellency Dr. Frank Walter-Steinmeier’s and First lady Elke Büdenbender left for Berlin Germany earlier this afternoon following their two day state visit in Botswana. President Steinmeier was seen off at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport by His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and First Lady Neo Masisi, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane and other cabinet ministers.

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany His Excellency Dr. Frank Walter-Steinmeier’s and First lady Elke Büdenbender left for Berlin Germany earlier this afternoon following their two day state visit in Botswana.

President Steinmeier was seen off at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport by His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and First Lady Neo Masisi, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane and other cabinet ministers.

While in Botswana Steinmeier held official talks with President Masisi focusing on the state of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.He also visited CITF and SADC headquarters .

President Steinmeier also had a business delegation which engaged with the local business community exploring trade and investment opportunities in Botswana.

Botswana and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1966. Over the years the two countries have collaborated in various fields of development, such as education, environment, tourism, water, energy, and trade and investment. Botswana established a resident diplomatic mission in Berlin in September 2013.
