MODEST RECOVERY ANTICIPATED
The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Kenneth Matambo, has proposed P14.82 billion as development budget for the 2016/17 financial year.
When presenting the national budget proposals in Parliament yesterday, the minister proposed a total expenditure and net lending of P54.44 billion with P36.99 billion allocated to the recurrent budget.
Of the total development budget, the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security has been allocated P3.59 billion to cater for the defence equipment, communication equipment and infrastructure in order to improve the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) defence capabilities. Minister Matambo said the allocation also catered for construction of police stations at Mmathubudukwane, Maitengwe and Semolale as well as staff houses in different locations in order to improve safety and security
