DTVET Mission

To provide quality, accessible and equitable Technical and Vocational Education and Training to enable individuals to contribute to national socioeconomic and technological advancement.

DTVET Mandate

DTVET is primarily responsible for Institutional Vocational Training in 35 Brigades offering 27 programmes.

Courses Offered

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

This programme enables Installing and repair systems such as heating and air-conditioning through maintaining, diagnosing and correcting problems throughout the entire system. Moreover the qualification allows one to install service and repair commercial, industrial and a variety of refrigeration equipment.

Secretarial Studies

Secretarial programme imparts skill to coordinate an office’s administrative activities through sorting and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients. A variety of administrative and clerical duties necessary to run an organization efficiently are part of topics covered under programme.

Carpentry and Joinery

A construction programme that emphasizes on skilled trade in which the primary work performed is cutting, shaping and installation of building material during construction of buildings, ships, timber bridges, concrete form work etc. Learners work with wood, framing, cabinet making and furniture designing.


Accounting, finance and Business courses

It helps to ensure that firms are run efficiently through analysing and communicating financial information for various entities such as companies, individual clients, state and local government.


Dress Making

Dress makers make use of fabric to produce a wide range of products that we use in our daily lives.


Architectural Draughting  

Architecture deals with planning, designing and construction form, space and ambience to reflect functional, technical, social, environment and aesthetic considerations. Further it deals with the design and construction of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings

 
Electrical Engineering

Installation and maintenance of domestic and industrial electrical circuit and system

Computer Operations

Computer operators oversee the operation of computer hardware systems, ensuring that these machines are used as efficiently and securely as possible. The computer Operators control the mainframe digital computer tasks or jobs.


Bricklaying & Plastering

It’s a construction program that emphasizes knowledge in building and repairing walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative store works. Graduands also refurbish brick work and masonry on restoration projects. Students are introduced to the basic skills of construction / buildings.


Borehole Mechanics

Correct design and long term maintenance of boreholes is critical to ensuring sustainable water supplies from groundwater. This course provides a detailed understanding of the principles and practice of borehole design and maintenance, including design, drilling, geophysical investigation, test pumping, and long-term maintenance.


Auto Mechanics

It’s an engineering course that emphasizes knowledge on auto mobile mechanics including repairing vehicles. Its main role is to diagnose the problem accurately and quickly, repair or replace specific car part as assemblies.

Forestry

It’s a programme that equips students with skills of propagating various tree species as well as their management.  The programme also covers such areas as gardening, landscaping, beekeeping, and fencing.  Other areas are related to those covered in Agricultural trades e.g. horticulture


Fitting and Machining

An engineering programme the emphasise knowledge on machining of components, Workshop safety module being requirement that leads trainees into hands on.  At this level trainee does bench work i.e. filing, manual threading, bench grinding and drilling. Theoretical modules such as Technical drawing, trade theory and general maths are covered to strengthen trainees understanding of the programme.  

Welding & Fabrication

Graduates studying this are able to refurbish works, restore projects are ready for selfemployment or work on managerial/position in mines as Artisans

Livestock Farming

This programme equips students with Animal Husbandry practices. The programme also equips students with skills and knowledge about various livestock diseases in Botswana together with their prevention, control and treatment.

Panel Beating & Spray Painting

The course focuses on helping students develop skills and gain employment as  apprentice. Spray painting and panel beating stream is a preapprenticeship course designed to provide theoretical and practical foundations for the vehicle painting and panel beating trade areas.  

Plumbing and Pipe Fitting

Covers the essential math concepts used in the plumbing and pipefitting.

Painting and Decoration
This qualification is aimed at who work or want to work in the construction industry and specialise in the area of painting and decorating
