Labour and Home Affairs Parliamentary Portfolio Committee

The Members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Labour and Home Affairs are in Capetown, South Africa on a study visit.  The purpose of thier visit is to benchmark with thier counterparts at the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa on the following Labour and Home Affairs issues;

1.  The role played by the Labour Committee

2. Methods employed in conducting hearings/examinations of relevant departments and institutions and

3.  The challenges that may be encoutered by the Labour Committee.

The Committee comprises: Hon. Gibson R Nshimwe, Chairman of the committee, Hon. Fidelis M. Molao, Hon. Mbiganyi C. Tibone and Hon. Maj. Gen. Moeng R. Pheto.

The Committee has been mandated by Standing Order 117 to exercise Parliamentary oversight and scrutiny over government ministries, departments and agencies with porfolio responsibilities on labour and home affairs issues.

The Honourable Members are expected back on the 10th October 2012.
