It was noted by Office of the President that Mmegi dated 15th April 2011 under the heading "Khama rejects meeting with Unions over Strike" gives a distorted account of what actually happened.

As it was stated in the letter to the Secretary General, Mr Andrew Motsamai of BOFEPUSU, dated 12th April 2011 from the Senior Private Secretary to the President, His Excellency, President Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, was not in Gaborone at the time the petition was delivered.

Most people are able to attest to this as they saw His Excellency on the evening news on BTV showing his Kgotla meetings in Tonota North.

These meetings could not be postponed or cancelled as arrangements were at an advanced stage.

I trust this will serve to clarify this offices response to the matter.
