The Office of the President hereby invites the media to its’ Community Service Day on 17th December 2010 at Kumakwane Village, where His Excellency the President and Cabinet Members will donate food hampers and plant trees.

The event will begin at 0800 hours at the Kumakwane Kgotla

The Office of the President built a two-bed roomed house for a needy individual as a pioneer project to kickstart the initiative.

Each Ministry is expected to set aside one day a month to give back to the community.

Through the gesture of planting trees, the Office of the President will be contributing towards the sustainable development of the natural environment as trees not only improve the quality of the air that we breath, but also provide of food and shelter and also essential for climate control. Trees play a major role in preventing soil erosion and preventing floods. The Office of the President wishes to stress that by planting trees, we not only create an atmosphere of natural beauty and serenity but also make up for the loss of trees caused through destruction of forests.
