Radio Botswana
Radio News and Current Affairs

Radio News and Current Affairs (N&CA) organizational structure consists of a General Manager of Radio Division who has the overall responsibility of managing effective and efficient running of the radio station and its different sections. The General Manager is assisted by the Head of N&CA, whose responsibility entails the day to day running of the news desk that feeds the two radio channels as well as its management. The Assignment Editor oversees the district office reporters’ work and welfare and ensures that they are well equipped to be able to carry out their daily functions.

The district reporters (some of them Bureau chiefs) are on par with editors and fall under the supervision of the Deputy Head. Some of the editors include Program Managers who are responsible for ensuring that their allocated programs are produced to standard and aired, provide editorial guidance and at times produce programs themselves. At the bottom of the structure that handles the core business of the N&CA section are the news writers, editors and presenters.

The staff compliment of permanent staff stands at 35. This number is complimented by freelancers.

Any issues which need further attention are brought to the General Manager’s attention to be solved within the Division, or elevated to the Director’s attention if it requires the Director’s consensus.
