Botswana Government Communication and Information System (BGCIS) was established through Presidential Directive CAB: 30/2006.

The mandate of the BGCIS is to manage and coordinate Government communication by promoting effective and interactive communications between Government and the public; promoting a positive communication environment; and improving the quality of Government information and communication.

The BGCIS mission is to ensure that Government communicates appropriate information to the public in a timely, authoritative, coherent, coordinated and proactive manner, while also promptly responding to public concerns, queries and criticism.
