One count of Abuse of Office
A 51 year old man of Molapo Ward in Gantsi appeared before Maun Magistrate Court charged with a single count of Abuse of Office contrary to Section 104 (1) of the Penal Code (Cap:08:01) Laws of Botswana.
DCEC Investigations
It is alleged that the accused person, Vincent Miller, around the 24th March 2011, at the Central Transport Organization (CTO) in Maun, whilst employed as a Deputy Workshop Manager by the CTO, in abuse of his office, instructed one Ononofile Njadingwe and Ronald Mokgweetsi to authorize payment of Fifty two thousand four hundred and fifty nine pula seventy thebe (P52 459.70) to Prop Shaft Master of Botswana trading as Engine Centre Francistown for repairs the said company had been subcontracted to do on a government vehicle, without verifications having been done in respect of such repairs.
A plea was reserved on the matter as it was committed to the High Court for trial set for 1st and 2nd April 2014. The accused was represented by Mr Wanano Lumbile of Charles Tlagae Attorneys, while Mr Universe Kabecha of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) appeared for the state.
