Bernard Bob Bobonong

 

An IT Engineer appeared before Mahalapye Magistrate charged with one count of forgery of official document, contrary to Section 346 as read with Section 339 of the Penal Code (Cap 08:01) of the Laws of Botswana.

 

Facts of the case have revealed that the accused person, Bernard Bob Bobonong on the 15th July 2008, near Mahalapye, with intent to deceive, forged a motor vehicle registration book of a Toyota Hiace minibus claiming it was lawfully transferred to a certain Mmoni Bobonong when he knew the same to be false.

 

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge and will appear again on the 3rd and 4th May 2011 for trial dates.

 

 Linda Leagajang Baeng

                          

A 39 years old Bursar appeared before Ghanzi Magistrate Court charged with  Conflict of interest, contrary to section 31of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act (Cap 08: 05), Laws of Botswana

 

Facts of the case have revealed that the accused person, Linda Leagajang Baeng on the 24th day of October 2007 at Ghanzi, whilst employed in the Public Service as a Bursar at Ghanzi Senior Secondary School, having a direct interest, sat in the interviewing panel in which one Gothusamang Gloria Moretlwa, her immediate family member was concerned as an interviewee, hence the accused failed to disclose the existence, nature and extent of her interest in the decision of the interviewing panel.

 

The accused did not enter a plea and will appear again on the 25th February 2011 when plea will be taken.

 

Rogers Molebatsi Moeng

                                        

A 41 years old Police officer appeared before Ghanzi Magistrate Court charged with corruption by a public officer, contrary to Section 24 (1) as read with 42 and punishable under Section 36 of the Corruption and economic Crime Act (Cap 08: 05), Laws of Botswana.

 

It is alleged that the accused person, Rogers Molebatsi Moeng on the 27th day of January 2009 at Benson Farms in the Ghanzi Administrative District, whilst being employed as a Public Officer in the Botswana Police Service in the Criminal Investigation Department corruptly offered and accepted for himself valuable consideration (bribe) in the sum of P3000.00 (Three Thousand Pula) from Gaboratanelwe Precious Ramosesane for facilitating the release of the latter’s boyfriend from lawful custody.

 

The accused was also charged with  giving false information to a person employed in the public service, contrary to Section 131 (a) of the Penal Code (Cap 08:01), Laws of Botswana

 

Facts of the case have revealed that the accused person, Rogers Molebasti Moeng, on the 28th day of January 2009 at Ghanzi Immigration Offices  gave false information to Nsiiwa Taliboko, an Immigration Official to the effect that Sherpard Shiri was a state witness and that his days be extended, knowing that the information was false and intending that the said Nsiiwa Taliboko should not employ common procedures with regard to the extension of the days, which is what the said Nsiiwa Taliboko would have done had the true state of facts known to her.

 

The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges and the case will mention on the 25th February 2011 to set trial dates.
