Taolo Selabeka
One count of abuse of office
A 49 year man appeared before Maun Magistrate Court charged with one count of abuse of office contrary to section 104 (1) of the Penal Code (Cap 08:05) Laws of Botswana.
DCEC Investigations
Investigations conducted by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) revealed that the accused person Taolo Selabeka on or about the 16th September 2010 at Maun, in the North West Administrative District of the Republic of Botswana abused the authority of his office while employed in the Public Service as Works Superintendent at the Central Transport Organization (CTO). Facts of the matter showed that Taolo authorized and directed the release of two boarded Government Motor vehicles of Maun Motors Garage which was subcontracted, for the stripping of some parts which were needed in the repair and overhauling of two other Government vehicles which is an arbitrary and prejudicial act to the rights of the Government.
Plea and Charges
The accused pleaded not guilty and was acquitted. Pascal T. Mandu appeared for the state while Taolo represented himself.
