Twenty-seven counts of conflict of interest
A 36 year old man, Botswelelo Kebiditswe appeared before Letlhakane Magistrate Court charged with twenty-seven counts of conflict of interest contrary to section 31 (1) of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act (Cap 08:05) Laws of Botswana.
DCEC Investigations
Investigations conducted by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) revealed that Kebiditswe on several occasions between the year 2002 and 2006 in Letlhakane in the Central Administrative District Of the Republic Of Botswana whilst employed by the Central District Council as an Assistant Physical Planner being a public body, knowingly failed to disclose the nature of his interest in BK Planning, an entity for which he was the sole proprietor. Through his office, Kebiditswe drafted and submitted building plans for twenty two persons, four companies and the Assemblies of God church for planning and building approval permission by his employer for which the twenty-seven approvals were granted.
A plea was reserved for the next appearance in court on the 18th June 2012. The accused was represented by Mr Sadique kebonang while Mr Mpho Letsoalo appeared for the state.
