Corruption in respect of official transaction
A man of 51 years of age appeared before Francistown Magistrate Court charged with one count of corruption in respect of official Transaction contrary to section 25 (1) as read with section 36 of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act Cap 08:05 Laws of Botswana.
DCEC Investigations
Investigations conducted by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) revealed that the accused person Bose Africa Senome on or about the 18th March 2011 at or near old Cine 2000 in Francistown in the Francistown Administrative District of the Republic of Botswana being a public officer as a prosecution counsel, corrupted the justice system by soliciting and accepting a P200.00 bribe from one Mooketsi Pikinini as a reward for him to influence Prosecution counsel Chimbisani Sechele on his behalf not to re-register his criminal case that has been dismissed for want of prosecution by Francistown Magistrate Court.
Plea and Next Appearance in Court
Senome pleaded not guilty and will appear again in court on the 20th April 2012. Elijah Molaodi Setshego appeared for the state while Senome represented himself.
