You can report corruption to the DCEC in person or by telephone - Toll free: 0800 700 100. The identities of our informers are protected under section 4.5 of the corruption and economic crime act, 1994. Under no circumstances should an informer’s identity or particulars be reveled or leaked to the press, court or even to the suspects or witness. However the DCEC is in the process of coming up with legislation on whistle blowing.

There are penalties for person who makes false reports or mislead the DCEC. Section 19 of the CEC act states that when a person consciously and with intention makes a false report to an officer happened or misdirects an officer about a crime that he knows has not taken place or happened or making false statement s or accusations knowingly to mislead the DCEC, then such a person is guilty of corruption. Upon conviction he will be to a prison term not exceeding 3 years.
