The Commissioner of Police Mr Thebeyame Tsimako has commended three senior officers who will be retiring at the end of February and March for serving in the Botswana Police Service with dedication and discipline.
Speaking at the dinner held at the Village Police Mess to honour the retiring Senior Superintendent Golebilwemang Golebilwemang, Superintendent Thusego Osupile and Assistant Superintendent Khumo Motheo yesterday (25/02/11), the Commissioner said police work required a sense of patriotism, voluntarism and hard work that the officers displayed during their lengthy policing service.
He thanked the officers for not contesting any of their many transfers during their more than 20 years of service, saying their loyalty and perseverance allowed them to reach the retirement age of 60, which is not easy with today’s many challenging work pressures. He said as many officers resigned and others dismissed due to policing demands, they managed to hold on and encouraged serving officers to emulate the officers’ good discipline and commitment.
Senior Superintendent Golebilwemang who joined the then Local Police Force in 1981 retires at the end of March, 2011 after serving 30 years. Golebilwemng who is now a member of the Botswana Police Service as a result of the Botswana Local Police Force and Botswana Police Service merger, retires as the Divisional Administration Officer based at the South Central Division.
Superintendent Osupile and Assistant Superintendent Motheo who joined the Botswana Police Service in 1977 and 1978 respectively will have served for 32 and 33 years when they finally leave their offices at the end of February. Mr Osupile and Motheo are Radio Operator and Station Officer respectively.
