Police Arrest Copper Wire Suspects

Police have made a breakthrough after they arrested ten suspects for possession of suspected stolen copper cables in six separate incidents. In one of the incidents, two men aged 39 and 46 were arrested in Phakalane after being found in possession of copper cables that they failed to account for.

In yet another incident, two males aged 29 and 33 were arrested at Old Naledi last week Thursday after being found in possession of copper cables suspected to be stolen. Naledi Police also arrested two other suspects in two separates incidents.

A police patrol team also arrested a 27 year old man of Ramotswa last Friday after he was found in possession of copper cables that he failed to account for. Ramotswa Police also arrested three suspects for stealing by servant. The trio were found selling copper wire cables at a scrap metal yard in Ramotswa. The copper is suspected to have been stolen from a company they work for.

Since last year the police have been inundated with reports of theft of copper cables from residential houses especially in Gaborone and its periphery. The police would like to urge the public to report anyone they suspect to be dealing in stolen copper cables
