The Commissioner of Police Mr Thebeyame Tsimako has asked delegates of the just ended 21st INTERPOL African Regional Conference to market Botswana as a preferred destination for tourists and investors.
Speaking at the recent cultural night dinner meant to familiarize INTERPOL delegates from Africa, Europe and the United States of America with Tswana traditional cuisine, attire and music, Mr Tsimako said Botswana is blessed with an abundance of a wide range of wildlife and cultural heritage that tourists could find to be quite enjoyable.
He also said Botswana is one of the peaceful nations in the world, making it an ideal stop for those who may want to invest in its stability and vast natural resources. He said the country is peaceful because of its government’s commitment to law enforcement services and urged other delegates to encourage their respective governments to invest more in public security in order to provide a conducive environment for tourists and investors.
The cultural night dinner was graced by, among others, the Acting Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Edwin Batshu and the INTERPOL President Mr Khoo Boon Hui.
The dinner was the delegates’ second cultural familiarization event after their tour of Manyana village a few days earlier. The Botswana Tourism Board has also been exhibiting at the conference teaching the delegates about various attractive sites in the country.
