Police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Gaborone donated school uniforms, blankets and toiletry to four needy children in Mokolodi.
Speaking at the recent handing over ceremony of the donated goods, Assistant Commissioner Precious Tlhabiwa of CID Headquarters said they came to know about the plight of the four orphaned children when they came to the village to identify some underpreviledged members of the community that they (officers) could help.
Mrs Tlhabiwa said the children were identified through the help of the Village Development Committee. She further said that although they are mandated to ensure the security of our communities, they also see it fit to go the extra mile by helping the needy in the society, thus fulfilling the Vision 2016 Pillar of a caring and compassionate nation.
In his remarks Mmokolodi Chief Kgosi Molomo Rasetlhogwane thanked CID officers for the gesture. He said that such a gesture strengthens the police/ community relationship, making it easy to fight crime .
