Strategic Leadership Programme (SLP) is said to be an essential tool in fighting transnational organized crime.
This was said by the Director of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Mr Mabuse Pule at the official opening of the 7th Strategic Leadership Programme in Otse recently. He said the programme will equip law enforcement officers with meaningful skills and strategies to curb cross-border crimes.
He said the programme is also intended to make a critical shift from operational function to corporate strategic responsibilities and perspectives. He further said the purpose of the programme is to foster understanding, respect and collaboration amongst senior managers in the police and other law enforcement agencies nationally and regionally.
Mr Pule said SLP has been designed for senior officers in the law enforcement agencies and it targets officers of the rank of Senior Superintendent, Assistant Commissioners and their equivalent in other organisations. He however, urged participants to be critical thinkers and be prepared to take risks for the betterment of their organisations.
The programme has drawn 15 participants from Botswana, Namibia, Malawi and Sierra Leone. The programme is expected to last for 10 weeks and will be facilitated by Botswana Police officers at Police College.
